Disco Loco in the Park: A Perfect Little Festival!

September 1, 2014 //  by Uju//  2 Comments

MC Chu-I at Disco Loco in the Park

Disco Loco in the Park was the final fling of the summer holidays and boy did they go out swinging. Hundreds of fun-lovers, ravers and mini misbehavers turned out for the family festival in gorgeous Springfield Park.

After days of cloud, the sun came out blazing and everybody was in a party mood.

We tore it up to the sounds of eclectic dance, indie and electronica acts like Troumaca and New Build (featuring members of LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip).

The babes were thrilled to see familiar faces MC Chu-I and DJ Emilia Harmony, along with DJs Rev Milo Speedwagon and Earl Gateshead, all part of the regular Disco Loco crew.

It was also great to bump into the lovely Natasha of Big Fish Little Fish and Dom from Street Feast, out hanging with his little boy.

We had brought a mini picnic along, with goodies** courtesy of Waitrose and also thanks to Piriton who had gifted us a picnic hamper** on our way to the fantastic Piriton Sneeze Free Garden at Camp Bestival.

And we had more flashbacks to Camp Bestival, as we sat in the sunlight sipping on Vita Coco Kids coconut drinks**.

Ezra prefers the Apple and Blackcurrant flavour but I’m all over their Mango and Pineapple drink. Yeah I know it’s for kids, but it’s got a hint of Virgin Colada about it. Super refreshing.

Disco Loco had some yummy food stalls although several had already sold out by mid-afternoon. And the fantastic looking inflatable structure by Architects of Air had a 45 minute long wait in the queue.

But we weren’t too fussed, as we spent most of our time dancing by the main stage.

When they weren’t busy throwing shapes, the babes were running about trying to complete their Teddy Bear Picnic Game. This sweet and simple treasure hunt was created by Waitrose to celebrate their picnic range and to inspire little ones to explore their natural surroundings.

The boys wouldn’t rest until they’d tracked down every item, even the zebra! Didn’t you know there were zebras roaming free in Hackney? Download your own Teddy Bear Picnic Game and you’ll see what I mean!

This little lion was mighty proud of his score.

Disco Loco runs afternoon clubbing sessions for families throughout the year and their free summer festival is set to become a legendary outdoor groove. Another brilliant day out in London filled with peace, love and good tunes. Big love to the Loco!

Sounds like a blast! And free too? Brilliant. I must bookmark this for next Summer cos it sounds like something all of us can enjoy, not just the kiddos.

Yes Nomita! That’s the spirit of Disco Loco, it’s fun for adults that the kids can have too :-) It was a really lovely day out and so great the sun turned up too! Definitely bookmark for next year, we can go together xoxo
