London Duck Tours Family Ticket £75 (12 Days of Xmas 2016)

London Duck Tours collage

You’ve sat on the front of the DLR. You’ve explored London on top of a double decker bus. You’ve even cruised on a riverboat across the Thames. But have you explored the city’s sites via Duck? Before you call me a quack, check out London Duck Tours, one of the quirkiest and most entertaining ways to discover more about the Capital.

We’d been wishing to ride on the London Duck Tours for years before we finally got the opportunity in 2015. I mean, who wouldn’t want to hop on a tour bus that magically transforms into a water vehicle for the best part of its journey?

London Duck Tours

You meet the London Duck Tours on land at the South Bank — it’s called the Duck Stop and you’ll find it within waddling distance of the London Eye. Climb aboard and prepare for a fascinating trip through London’s history, taking in spots like Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the Christmas Lights on Regent St. We went on the ‘A Quackmas Carol Tour’ last year and our tour guide (Mr Duckins) certainly knew his Victorian London facts and trivia.

The boys were feeling pretty cool in this eye-catching vehicle, but not as cool as when we essentially drove into the water, just outside MI6 HQ! The rest of the tour takes place on the Thames, enjoying the views past waterside attractions like the HMS Belfast and the Golden Hinde. The London Duck Tours vehicles (actually DUKWS) were originally used during WW2 to help transport supplies from ships to land in heavily guarded areas. It’s amazing when you realise that the Duck you’re travelling in was one of 9 that took part in the D-Day landings.

Educational and hugely entertaining, London Duck Tours is a quacking good time for all ages.

London Duck Tours depart from DUCK STOP, Belvedere Road, Waterloo, London, SE1, near the London Eye (between Jubilee Gardens and The Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall). Suitable for ages 3+,kids ages 3-17 receive a free gift (tour and gift not suitable for children under 3). Classic tours run daily from 10am, except Dec 24, 25, 26th, 31 and Jan 1. Adult from £26/child age 1-17 from £18/family of 4 ticket from £75. Visit www.londonducktours.com
