Top Three Travel Destinations in the Middle East (Guest Post)

With all the fighting, chaos and disorder that is shown practically every time we turn on our televisions, you could be forgiven in thinking that the Middle East is one holiday destination that would be best avoided.

On the contrary however, the Middle East is a vast and diverse region with plenty of beautiful and tranquil spots to enjoy an unforgettable holiday. Take a look at these three top travel destinations.

Egypt

When a city has been dubbed as the City of Peace, thoughts of serenity and composure immediately spring to mind. Whilst Egypt may be synonymous with mysterious pyramids and ancient temples, it certainly has a cosmopolitan side, and the city of Sharm el Sheikh is without doubt one of the country’s more sophisticated spots.

This popular tourist town is located on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula and has been named the ‘City of Peace’, due to all the peace conferences that are held there.

Of course, if you are looking to discover ancient culture at its most distinct and compelling, then Egypt offers a history and culture like no place on Earth. Egypt holidays through Co-operative Travel are made simple and economical, offering the perfect way to discover this enchanting part of the world.

Turkey holiday

Istanbul, Turkey

With its Ottoman architecture, vibrant art scene and daily call to prayer resonating throughout the city, it is not difficult to be hypnotised by Turkey’s Istanbul. In fact, with its maze of narrow streets, selling truly unique handmade items, its absorbing art galleries on every corner, and its hip clubs and bars, which pump out tunes well into the early hours, Istanbul has deservedly earned the reputation of being one of the trendiest cities in the world.

One of the biggest delights of discovering this happening city is sitting on one of the many rooftop bars, sipping traditional Turkish tea whilst absorbing the Grand Bazaar, the unrivalled architecture and the general buzz of a distinct, pulsating but peaceful city.

Petra, Jordan

You may consider yourself a well-travelled and cultured individual, but nothing can prepare you for the Treasury in Petra.

Situated in the middle of a harsh and vast desert, this ancient marvel, which comprises of a plethora of stone pathways and hundreds of Bedouin caves, has captivated tourists for many, many years.

Cut into the face of the mountains, this bizarre ancient construction comes complete with rooms, doorways and windows. If you happen to ever find yourself in Jordan, Petra is quite simply a ‘must see.’
