Are you one of those midnight supermarket marauders or do you prefer grocery shopping from the comfort of your couch?
Here’s a guest post from online shopping enthusiast Sara on her favourite site for comparing prices and getting her groceries delivered fresh to her door.
Sainsbury’s online and why I love mySupermarket (Guest Post)
With so much to do around town there is one niggling household chore that always seems to get in the way of enjoying the day and that can rarely be palmed off to someone else.
If you’re like me and spend the majority of your day working or looking after the kids then the last thing you feel like doing is traipsing round the supermarket and especially not with the kids in tow. Unfortunately, this fear of mine also extends to the evening.
After the house is quiet and everyone is asleep the last thing I want to do is run round the supermarket looking for deals and trying to do my grocery shopping, with the glaring lights and misleading offers it gets me in nothing but a tizz.
There’s something about the quiet that prevails in the house after all the kids are asleep that just makes me want to curl up on the sofa instead of getting up and going out the house, whether it be for shopping or pleasure.
That’s when I discovered doing my grocery shopping online. I’m happy to sit for hours on my lap top in front of the TV checking out recipes, ordering stuff online and finding things to do with the kids so why not extend this to grocery shopping?
mySupermarket is a grocery shopping site that compares prices across the 5 top online UK retailers so not only can you shop online 24/7 from the comfort of your own home (or when sitting in a restaurant waiting for food to arrive) you know that you’ll always be able to find the best deals and see what shop is best to buy from that week.
Another bonus is that you don’t need to complete all your shopping at the same time. You can start filling your basket and come back to it later in the day, when you have a spare 10 minutes.
Once you’re a registered user your basket will stay filled until you either cancel it or send it for checkout so you can come and go from the site as many times as you need before completing your shop. I’ve even been known to start filling my shopping basket while the kids are in their swimming lessons or while I’m waiting in the car for school pick up.
Here’s a great example of saving with mySupermarket: I like Sainsbury’s so I started shopping at Sainsbury’s online and discovered a great deal for Jaffa Cakes which just happen to be a favourite snack in my house.
Sainsbury’s have a special offer on the 24 pack – it’s reduced from £2.20 to £1 which sounds like a bargain. I can see from the price comparison chart that all the other supermarkets are selling them at anything from £1.99-2.19.
The mySupermarket Savvy Buys symbol indicates that the offer price is more than 30% lower than the average price this year so I know I’m on to a good thing. These Jaffa Cakes just happened marked with a 5% cashback offers as well so if I buy them via mySupermarket they will send me 5% back into my PayPal account.
Bingo, I’m not only saving time and money, I’m actually earning money as well. This deal is on until 30.8.2012 so if you want your cheap Jaffa Cakes and 5% cashback start shopping now.
mySupermarket is totally FREE to use by the way so go and take a look and see what you think.
