Weekend Scoop for London Families (Jan 24-27, 2013)

January 24, 2013 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

Get your glad rags on and boogie down to hip night spot Sway for Baby Loves Disco this weekend. If you’re not shaking off the winter blues on the dance floor, here’s more things to do for London kid and families. Stay warm!

Sat: Baby Loves Disco at Sway, 61 Great Queen St, WC2 (Covent Garden tube)
Strut your funky stuff with your toddler at this popular party for ages 0 to 7 and their grownups. There are disco tunes, dress-up encouraged, chill-out zone and healthy snacks. £9 all walking humans, non-walkers FREE (Jan 26)

Sat: Hackney Children’s Theatre Variety Spectacular at St John at Hackney Church, Lower Clapton Rd, E5 (Hackney Central overground)
Enjoy live variety performances for all ages with a mix of juggling acts, magic tricks, majorettes on parade and more. 10.30am, £4/family £13 (Jan 26)

Sat-Sun: Manet at Royal Academy of Art, Burlington House, W1 (Piccadilly Circus tube)
It’s one of the biggest exhibition openings of the year and we hope you’ve pre-booked as queues are likely to be huge. Worth it for this feast of works from one of the 20th century’s greats. Pick up an Art Detective trail for younger ones. 10am-11pm (Sat), 10am-6pm (Sun); adult £15/child under 12 FREE (from Jan 26)

Sun: Vintage Fashion Fair at Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent’s Park Rd, NW1 (Regent’s Park tube)
Shop for cool, retro sweaters, cosy cardies and smart jackets at the first fair of the year. 11am-5pm, £3 (Jan 27)

Sun: Pink Panther 50th Anniversary Family Screening at BFI Southbank, Belvedere Rd, SE1 (Waterloo/Embankment tube)
As part of the Loco London Comedy Film Festival, you can catch a special screening of the classic Inspector Clouseau comedy mystery. There’s also an animation workshop and dress-up fun for ages 7+. 1pm, adult £10/concs. £6.75 (Jan 27)

We also like
Mum2Mum Market in Wimbledon Broadway (Sat); The Mumblar at Arts Depot (Sun); Modern British Childhood at V&A Museum of Childhood (ongoing until April)
