Fri: Small World: Paint a Postcard Family Day at Bankside Gallery, 48 Hopton St, SE1 (London Bridge/Southwark tube)

Fri-Sat: Africa Fashion Week at Spitalfields Market, 1 Crispin Place, E1 (Liverpool St tube)
Get a front row seat at this showcase of the hottest designs inspired by or created by Africans. A stunning fusion and celebration of Afro UK culture, in the heart of east London. 12.30-6.30pm (Fri) and 12-6.30pm (Sat); price range from FREE to £7 standard to £50 for VIP entry, pre-registration required (Aug 3-4)
Sat: Make Do and Mend Quilt (pic) at Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Rd, SE1 (Lambeth North tube)
Get crafty at the museum at this drop-in communal activity for all ages, making a quilt in the Wartime Gallery. 11am-1pm & 2-4pm, FREE (Aug 4-12)
Sat: Mayor of London Presents: Showtime at Hackney Town Hall, Mare St, E8 (Hackney Central overground)
The Mayor’s outdoor arts festival rolls into Hackney with an unmissable day out of entertainment, ranging from magical hair sculptures by Osadia to origami wizard hats by Chapeau Magique. 12-6pm, FREE (Aug 4)
Sat-Sun: OAE Tots and Family Weekender at Greenwich Summer Festival, King Charles Lawn, Old Royal Naval College, SE10 (Greenwich DLR)
Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s popular Tots Concert for younger kids (Sat, 4pm in Little Top) is just part of an amazing weekend of family fun including Punch & Judy, screening of the Red Balloon, an alien moon show in the Royal Observatory, a Mad Hatter’s tea party and much more! 11am daily, prices vary, many activities FREE (Aug 4-5)

Celebrate the 150th anniversary of Punch with a family day of arts and crafts including finger puppet making, masks and storytelling throughout the day. By Zara and Gap Kids. 12-5pm, FREE (Aug 5)
