I could tell that Banz Child Ear Defenders worked a treat as soon as my 6-year-old put them on. Instantly Ezra began yelling, ‘I can’t hear you Mum, you’re going to have to speak in sign language!’
Yeah right, like putting a finger to my lips has ever shut him up!
Sunproof sent us 2 pairs* of Banz ear muffs in funky black and silver to review while at Camp Bestival this past weekend.
I’ve taken my boys to London gigs before but I thought a whole weekend of musical onslaught, plus noisy crowds, would be a bit much – especially for my 3-year-old.
The babes loved their ‘DJ headphones’ and frequently put them on just to ‘look cool’.
The ear protectors really came into their own at the main stage on Saturday where we got right near the front to see Chic and Kool & the Gang work their disco magic. Jed crashed out on a blanket on the grass, Banz muffs on, completely oblivious to the crowd boogying around him.
But the true test came during Sunday’s fireworks finale: Ezra, who typically freaks out at all that fizzing and popping, was running about with his ear protectors on gleefully shouting, ‘look Mum, I’m not even scared!’
Banz ear muffs come in a variety of fun colours and are definitely a festival favourite, as we spotted loads of Camp Bestival babes wearing them. You can get Infant Ear Defenders for newborn to 6 months and Child Ear Defenders for kids up to age 8.
The ear muffs are light (190 grams), fold up to fist-size and seemed fairly durable squashed into the boys’ backpacks. They’re a bit fiddly to put on but the soft padding around the edges seems to make them comfy to wear.
Whether you’re off to a summer festival with tots, or taking the family to one of the busy Olympic events around town this month, Banz Ear Defenders should be an essential part of your kit.

We ran off to buy some when we got to Camp Bestival. We wanted to watch the bands late, the kids really wanted to sleep in the trolley. Minutes after they put these on, they were fast asleep. They even slept through the firework display, which was HUGE!

Ear defenders are great! My two had them on whilst raving in the Bollywood tent and for the fireworks too.
