Last week, the babes got to fly to Neverland with Peter Pan, battle aliens with Buzz Lightyear and gain instant access to Disneyland where they could hug and high five characters like Goofy and Snow White.
All this was just a taster of new Kinect: Disneyland Adventures for XBox 360, that gives controller-free gaming an extra touch of fairy dust from the House of Mouse.
Babes about Town was invited to the launch event at the Disney Store on Oxford Street where all the kids present (mostly ‘cele-bubbas’ as it turned out) had a chance to play.
Kinect: Disneyland Adventures offers a free passport (well, cheaper than booking a trip to LA) into the virtual theme park, where you can try out famous rides like Pirates of the Caribbean or Space Mountain without dealing with the endless queues.
You choose and customise an avatar to explore Disneyland and each ride has multiple levels that take you on more imaginative adventures, with a chance to complete tasks to unlock rewards and earn coins to shop in the Disneyland store.
It takes a while getting used to controlling the game with your body movements (it also operates on voice controls), but my 5-year-old was soon scoring points and having a whale of a time.
The 2-year-old was more interested in hanging with some of his favourite peeps.
Other kids going bananas for the likes of Mickey and Donald included the various offspring (along with their grown-ups) of actor Rupert Graves, comedian Johnny Vegas (pictured), singer/voice coach Carrie Grant, Rita Simon aka Roxy from Eastenders, former Corrie star Angela Griffin, athlete Denise Lewis and more faces I couldn’t put a name to.
There was also cookie decorating, live magic, finger foods and face painting to keep folks busy.
Mostly, I amused myself trying to work out who swellebs like Chloe Sims (from The Only Way is Essex) could be.
All in all, a fun evening out, my eldest was totally Captain Hooked on Kinect: Disneyland Adventures and both kids were beyond thrilled to have their own copy of the game to take home.
Shame we don’t have the matching XBox console!
Kinect: Disneyland Adventures for XBox 360 is out now, £39.99
