I couldn’t resist going back to kidswear trade show Bubble London last weekend, especially as it’s held at the Business Design Centre, N1 — just a hop, skip and toddle from my front door.
Jed loves it too: after our experience at the January show, I’d set him a ‘2 sweets limit’, but he still managed to neck 3 chocs plus at least 2 mini cupcakes from various stalls. Cue much bouncing and rolling around on the floor, although I had to admit he was like that before the sugar rush!
Bubble London offers a captivating peek into the cute, the cool and the quirky in kids’ fashion with handpicked indie boutiques displaying their goodies to buyers and press. There’s so much to see and stroke that I hardly knew where to start and didn’t really want it to end.
Some highlights from Bubble London Spring Summer 2012:
Meeting the lovely Emily (pic) from Native Belle Boutique and the fab Amanda of Isossy Kids, 2 women doing us proud in Afro-chic kids clothing and accessories
The smell and feel of luxury (and surprisingly reasonable prices) at the Aston Martin Junior stand. Ok, Jed, let the jacket go now.
Chatting with reps from familiar names like Green Baby, Organic Babies (she’s converted me to the concept of ‘green’ toothpaste) and Bumkins bibs.
Coolhunting amongst the rails of Milk & Cereal (funky graphic tees) and new labels, like Rock & Regal, limited edition prints by Cyd and Emma, the cutest baby kneepads and hair clips from Crawlings (tipped by Posh Spice, no less).
A super fun photo shoot with Jed by Julia Boggio, who blogs at I Carried a Watermelon and taught a photography workshop at BritMums Live 2012. I can’t wait to see the professional shots.
I would have loved to sit in on a seminar, especially the one on social media run by Natalie of Bambino Goodies, but Jed was literally boinging off the stalls by the time I staggered out, laden with more catalogues than I’d intended.
My companion was cute and all, but next year I’ll be looking forward to attending Bubble London hands-free!
