Here’s looking at you, Kid

January 25, 2010 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

Get your brood together for a classic silent movie (no doubt the kids will provide the soundtrack!) this weekend at the Barbican Centre cinema in EC2.

The Barbican Family Film Club has become a Saturday morning institution for local families and members from afar. Every week they show a mix of golden oldies and new releases aimed at ages 5 and up (many of their films are also suitable for younger kids).

This Saturday’s 11 am screening stars Charlie Chaplin in The Kid (U), a hilarious and heart-warming tale in which the Tramp takes in an orphan boy (Jackie Coogan) and raises him as his own. But he finds himself in a tug of war with the boy’s mother who, five years later, has a change of heart.

Come at 10 am to catch the Slapstick Workshop with Thierry Lawson just before the film. Visit the Barbican web site for details.
