School’s out FOREVER… well, until Sixth Form if you’re one of the teens who completed GCSEs in June, like my 16 year old. This weekend, it’s officially summer holidays and the Babes About Town London with Kids Summer 2025 guide is STACKED with activities for all ages. From family theatre to immersive experiences, outdoor fun and street parties (Notting Hill Carnival – whoop whoop), you are spoilt for choice. Let’s hope the weather holds out through August. What’s the smallest thing you can think of? An insect? A microbe? An atom? Discover a miniverse of tiny adventures at the Institute of Physics’ free summer exhibition, ideal for families with children aged 6-11 (younger and older ones welcome). Get hands-on with fun physics experiments for all the family, be creative with arts and crafts activities, and meet our wonderful physicists to find out how some of the smallest things in the universe can make a big difference in our lives.

Europe’s biggest street party is pure vibes and it’s back for another Bank Holiday weekend. We’re not sure if it’s going to survive past 2025 so do come out for the floats, costumes, steel bands, sound systems, street food, and of course dancing! Sunday is Children’s Day and a bit calmer for those with young kids. All ages. From around 9.30am daily, FREE (Aug 24-25)

All Points East in the Neighbourhood, Victoria Park (Crown Gate), Grove Road, Bow, E3 5TB (Mile End/Bethnal Green tube)
The free 4 day extravaganza that’s tied to the All Points East festival offers a mix of family entertainment, live music, tennis, screenings, theatre, stalls and more. All ages welcome. 12pm-9.30pm (Tue) & 10.30am-9.30pm (Wed & Thu); FREE (dates tbc)
