20 Questions for Ezra: 16th Birthday Interview

February 2, 2022 //  by Uju//  4 Comments

To my utter surprise and confusion, the tiny baby placed in my arms about a minute ago is SIXTEEN YEARS OLD. Huh? Excuse me? Did I step into a time machine and lose nearly two decades in the blink of an eye? You would think that with the annual birthday interview tradition I’ve been doing with my kids for years, I would have noticed them getting older.

Of course, I can’t ignore the fact that my baby is a good head and shoulders taller than me, with a gravelly alto (and the occasional voice crack). He’s old enough to have a drink in the pub (accompanied by an adult), apply for his provisional licence — or start driving in the US. If they hadn’t amended the legal age from 16 to 18 last November, he could even get married!

Somebody wake me up.

Those of you who’ve been reading this birthday interview for years, or even following this blog from day one, might also be feeling a sense of bittersweet nostalgia. However, I’m not here to wallow (*sob*) but to celebrate our boy Ezra, who I’m happy to report is still one of the funniest, smartest, coolest individuals I know. I’m so pleased that he’s agreed to make a rare appearance today for another birthday Q&A.

Over to you, E.

Aww. The responses have changed so much over the years and naturally so. These answers are so ‘teenage cool’! But then again he is a very cool dude! Wishing Ezra the happiest 16th birthday… I’m still reeling from the fact that he’s 16 – I first met him when he was 6! xx

Aww love this series so much and love Ezra-how can he be 16 and so tall, I can’t cope with the speed these years are going!! I love that he still loves Crunchy Nut after all these years and his response to Jed that he wasn’t flexing about how many friends he has, made me laugh out loud! Such a sweet, beautiful and smart young man. Be proud, you’ve raised the most amazing boys. Forever taking notes! Hope to see you all soon xx

Thanks for the comment, Vicki, I can’t believe how much they’ve grown either. It’s hilarious and quite emotional reading some of their interviews back over the years. I hope they’ll let me continue this tradition until we’re all old and grey! Hope to see you guys soon too x

Haha Nomita, yes they certainly have. Especially the 3 wishes part! Too much teenager. Now I have 2 teens on my hands, send help. Actually they’re still lovely boys… for the most part lol. It’s crazy how that time has gone by isn’t it? x
