There’s a trail of breadcrumbs to lead you through, and you can stand in a giant’s footprint, or party in a palace disco with the musicians of Bremen. This sounds like a show to remember. See the Mr Men and Little Miss Characters leap from page to stage at this fun-loving theatre production. For nearly 50 years, characters like Mr Bump, Mr Happy, Little Miss Bossy and Little Miss Stubborn (that’s me, according to the OH!) have tickled and delighted readers young and old. Horniman Museum: Permian Monsters, 100 London Rd, SE23 3PQ (Forest Hill overground)
Journey back 252m years to the Permian period, when life on Earth was overrun by bizarre and rather terrifying creatures. At the Horniman’s blockbuster exhibition, you can meet sabre-toothed predators, giant insects and bizarre-looking sharks from the past. Fossils, full-size models and animatronics bring this era to life. There’s an interactive dig pit and art area, plus a relaxed opening (Apr 12, 9-10am) for children with autism spectrum conditions and neurodiverse families. The Royal Academy’s blockbuster show offers a rare glimpse into Picasso’s works on paper. See how he drew on, tore up, sculpted and experimented with anything from wallpaper to newsprint and paper napkins.
