Reindeer dancing, penguins waddling, a boy and his snow pal walking on the air… One of the most magical experiences I’ve had with my babes at the theatre was watching The Snowman at Sadler’s Wells Peacock Theatre.
A festive tradition for Londoners, almost akin to the tree going up at Trafalgar Square and the Ice Rink opening at Natural History Museum, this beautiful show spells C-H-R-I-S-T-M… oh you get the picture! No matter how ‘bah humbug’ you’re feeling, a visit to The Snowman will make you melt into a puddle of Christmas cheer.
Based on the classic Raymond Brigg picture book, that paints such a heartfelt story without any words, The Snowman is perfect for even the tiniest kids to enjoy. If you cried during the animated movie, rest assured you’ll feel emotional during this production, although thankfully the ending’s not quite as heartbreaking.
It’s amazing to think Jed was only 2 years old when he saw The Snowman and he stayed awake for the entire show. Ezra (then 5) was gobsmacked at the sight of a real boy taking flight. ‘That was unusual. I’ve never seen a boy who could fly before.’ Read our full review.
