It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed since I launched 20 Questions on Babes about Town. After reading about this wonderful tradition on Reaves Party of 4 blog, I decided to start asking the babes the same 20 questions about themselves every birthday. Such a simple but memorable way of marking the years as they zoom by.
What’s really fun is comparing today’s list with the 20 Questions for Ezra on his 9th Birthday.
In just 12 months, Ezra’s picks for favourite film and – most controversially – favourite fruit (sorry Pink Lady apples!) has changed. But when it comes to lunch, snacking and of course, football, he’s still pretty much the same little nut.
I’m still coming to terms with the idea that I’m the mother of a 10 year old. I am the mother of a 10 year old. Repeating it doesn’t make it sound more real, and yet here he is.
My beautiful boy.
10 years after they placed him in my arms, just 4 days before my birthday, he’s still the best gift a mum could wish for. So without further ado, I give you…
20 Questions for Ezra on his 10th Birthday

Happy 10th birthday to our little rock star. It’s the end of an era and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the Book of Ezra. I can’t wait to share more laughs, life lessons, and lyrical battles with you.
This is what I wrote for Ezra on his 8th birthday. Still one of my favourite posts.

A very happy birthday to your beautiful 10 year old. Wow – double digits. This is such a great idea to record the answers over the years. It will be so fun to look back on. I love his answers and I love that he still loves Winnie the pooh. How time flies, right? When I think of A turning 7 last month, I sometimes wonder how that happened so quickly. So important to treasure each moment of each day with the kidlets because it is indeed so fleeting. Once again a very, very happy birthday to gorgeous Ezra and big congrats to his amazing mama and daddy. (In India we congratulate the parents on milestone birthdays of the kids as the belief is that the parents have done very well to bring up the kid – just in case you’re wondering but I guess it might be similar in Nigeria?) xxx
Honest Mum
Oh my beautiful, clever boy who even shared his chips with me (remember?), I love this idea, such a treasured way to keep memories each year. I love you all. LAUGHING OUT LOUD to, ‘Some people say they hate the Harry Potter series and I’m like how? How?!’ and Ronaldo is one of my faves too, for completely different reasons ;) .
I still, still want to be a footballer myself though, after watching Bend It Like Becjham and then working for the comp who produced and distributed that film, one of my dreams is to one day bend it like Beckham myself for a US team, am I too old now though? Haha! Have a happy birthday amazing Ezra and YES to melon too-watermelon is so last year, wait that was pink ladies ;) Uju you look too young to have a 10 year old, what a decade, the best xxx

Happy birthday to your boy! He’s really a charmer.
First time on your blog and I absolutely love it! Also your kids would be so grateful for the preservation of their random and most precious moments.
Uju
Thanks so much Keside, appreciate the compliments on the boy and the blog :-) Yes let’s hope they’ll be grateful for the memories, sometimes you question yourself sharing their stories online. But luckily my kids are both fully aware of, enjoy the benefits of and often contribute their own reviews etc to the blog. I especially love the random moments :-)
Uju
Haha yes you’re one of the lucky few who gets to steal chips off their plates Vicki. It’s a great idea hey? When I saw it last year I so wished I’d been doing it since they were born. Like the other tradition of taking the same photo in the same spot every birthday. Next time I should video him as he’s even funnier in person! And don’t give up your dream lol, never too late to bend it ;-) x
Uju
Double digits Nomita. I’m still in shock! I remember my own 10 year transition so clearly and how cool I felt to have completed a decade. And yes Jed will be 7 in a couple of weeks too, our babies are growing, sob! I always congratulate the parents (especially the mama) as it’s your ‘birth day’ too and yes similar in Nigeria. I do miss my mum congratulating me on every one of my children’s birthdays also :-) x
Uju
Isn’t it great? Actually Reaves has a whole book of birthday questions if you fancy it, think I shared last year will add a link to the post! x
Tin
I’ve not done this with my little one yet but I think I’ll have to start! I love that his favourite song is by Silento – what a cool dude!
Uju
Haha you should see the babes dancing to Silento, they sure love to bust a move. Always have done. Definitely do this with your Princess, you’ll love it :-) x
Mirka Moore @Kahanka
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Cannot believe he is 10!!!! Love his answers, good to hear we support the same team, we are huge Arsenal fans. I had no idea he wants to be a footballer??? That would be a great job as then his mama would not have to work xxxx Had to laugh about his comment on justin Bieber….. ehm ehm where is Auntie Vicki? xxxx love you guys and hope he has had an amazing day xxxxx
Uju
Haha Mirka I know he will be appalled to hear of Vicki’s outing as a Belieber. She’ll have to keep it from him ;-) Yes we are all staunch Gooners in our house, so obviously we have to have a family double date at some point to watch a match. The boys are obsessed with footie and I hope it does lead somewhere after all the time I’ve spent schlepping them back and forth to training, matches etc! Thanks for the birthday wishes x
