Dates with Dads: Edible Cinema

April 29, 2014 //  by Uju//  2 Comments

Leonardo Di Caprio Romeo and Juliet

How’s this for an unusual ‘dinner and a movie’ date?

Edible Cinema is an immersive experience that invites guests to experience a movie through scent, texture and taste.

You’ll be offered a tray filled with numbered boxes each containing a mystery canapé or mini cocktail. When a number comes up by the screen, you can sample the contents of that box, designed to interpret specific moments and moods in the film.

Past Edible Cinema viewers have munched on Pine Smoked Popcorn to evoke the pine forest in Pan’s Labyrinth; or rose-tinted turkish delight laced with champagne, to summon up Marilyn Monroe covering Tony with alcohol-flavoured smooches in Some Like it Hot.

On this weekend’s menu: Baz Lurhmann’s Romeo & Juliet starring Leonardo di Caprio and Claire Danes. Who knows what flavours they will conjure up?

Edible Cinema: Romeo & Juliet is at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, W1J 9LN (Piccadilly Circus tube) this Sat & Sun, 3pm & 7.30pm, £37 (May 3-4)

Visit ediblecinema.co.uk for details of future screenings
