Grow Your Dream Business: Inspiring Videos for Women Entrepreneurs

May 28, 2013 //  by Uju//  6 Comments

Featured Post

I would never describe myself as having a ‘head for business’, as I’m far more the artsy-fartsy, creative wanderer type.

However, looking back I’ve always had an entrepreneurial streak — whether it’s ‘self-publishing’ my first ‘novel’ in an exercise book back in primary school. Or buying stacks of sweets with my pocket money and selling them back to my older brother and sister at a profit.

As an enterprising writer mama and blogger, I’m a big supporter of initiatives that help women take charge of their own careers and finances by setting up in business.

If you’re a mum trying to fit your passions around the needs of your kids, there’s nothing more empowering or satisfying than being head of your own company, and thanks to the abundance of high speed internet providers and online opportunities, it has never been easier to do so.

Going solo can be scary but thankfully you don’t need to feel completely alone.

Alibaba.com is launching a new campaign — — that’s all about encouraging women to realise their vision and achieve greater heights.

They’ve packaged together a series of inspirational videos of businesswomen who share their journeys and show you the best way to work towards your goals.

One video features Kate Castle, creator of Bog in a Bag, an innovative product that we reviewed last year on our trip to Camp Bestival. Her portable toilet could literally transform your festival experience and it’s fascinating to learn how she came up with the concept and took it to market!

Hear Kate’s story below:

WIN A SPOT WITH A BUSINESS MENTOR

Through Alibaba’s mentoring programme, women entrepreneurs are invited to submit your own story for a chance to win personal business mentoring from one of five brilliant women.

If you have a start-up company or you’re hoping to set up a business, this could be just the push you need to follow your dreams.

This looks really interesting thanks for posting, and I think I will have a go at posting Mrs Fox’s story. A business mentor is probably just what we need. Thanks.

Hey Lindsay, great to hear you’re inspired and YES I get really excited about women and mums who run things! I just spent the afternoon chatting with a local mum planning to set up her own enterprise and I was thrilled to hear about your new venture. Let’s definitely chat in depth soon xoxo
