The Bank Holiday sunshine seems like a distant dream now, doesn’t it?
We made the most of the gorgeous weather at the Star of Bethnal Green street party on Monday. After their smash hit community knees-up for Jubilee last year, the pub threw open their doors for an all-day block party with a proper Carnival feel.
My BAHD man and his crew were on the grill, serving up delicious hot dogs to happy ravers and er… dogs.
There was live graffiti, a DJ with a kicking sound system, a hoola hoop performer and party people dancing on the roof.
I love days out like these where it’s fun for kids (bouncy castle, face painting etc) and you can still kick back with a rum and coke. Happy mama.
This guy’s baby slept through all the noise. He assured me the little one could breathe under there!
Ezra and I were feeling especially natty in our brand new Adidas trainers.
Sports Shoes had invited us to review their trainers** for National Walking Month (May) and to describe the benefits of an active lifestyle.
Ezra picked the Adidas Junior Adizero running shoes in his favourite colour and couldn’t wait to get them on.
He spent most of Bank Holiday Monday chasing Jed around, playing football with empty cans and throwing shapes to the DJ’s beats. Safe to say, he wore in his shoes! What I like best about them is that they stand out — I certainly won’t lose him in a crowd.
I chose the Adidas Lady Motion running shoes in green and white (a nod to the Nigerian flag) but when I first put them on, they felt kind of tight.
However, as I walked around in them, they got comfier by the minute. I still have to get used to the feeling of my toes poking out at the tips (thanks to the second-skin Adiprene layer).
They’re high-tech trainers designed for hardcore runners and I won’t pretend I’m going to start hitting the track. But they’ll suit me fine for dancing and hooping and of course, fronting like the ‘cool mum’ on the school run.
