Dates with Dads: Meet the Cast of Mad Men (Video)!

April 9, 2013 //  by Uju//  2 Comments

We love hanging with our kids. Most of the time.

But it’s also lovely escaping the demands of parenting and rediscovering your passions as a couple.

Abiye and I have never really had official ‘date nights’ although we’re making more efforts to sneak off without the babes for the odd evening out.

However, one thing we’ve always enjoyed since our pre-kid era is getting cosy on the sofa and watching entire seasons of hot TV shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Wire, 24 and the delicious Mad Men.

If you’ve not seen Mad Men yet, where have you been?

This show was the definition of a game-changer. It brought vintage style and a certain retro-cool attitude back on the scene, as well as turning its stars including John Hamm (yum) and Christina Hendricks into pop cultural icons.

Created by Matthew Weiner, the writing is outstanding, the stories pack an emotional punch and the energy between the cast is nothing short of electric.

As a screenwriter developing my craft, I consider watching a show like Mad Men as essential ‘research’.

It’s also ideal viewing for a no-fuss date night — an inspiring cocktail of sex, drama and… well, cocktails!

To coincide with the premiere of Mad Men Season 6 (on Apr 6), New York Times has just released this video of its TimesTalks session with the key players of Mad Men in conversation.

Drink it up.

Mad Men series 1-5 box sets are available at Amazon.co.uk among other stores

Dates with Dads is a new series on Babes about Town where we suggest fun ideas for ‘date nights’ or afternoon escapes with your baby daddy, either at home or around town. Look out for more coming soon!
