Poem for my Mother #ONEMums

October 28, 2012 //  by Uju//  2 Comments

On the other side of the world,
Never far from my heart
Everywhere I go, I carry my mother inside… as she once carried

Me. Mummy. Mine. Motherhood is belonging
Under the skin, same
Mother
Same child within

I’m taking part in the #OneMums meme set up by Clare at Seasider in the City blog.

Our goal is to raise awareness of ONE, a non-partisan advocacy organisation dedicated to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa.

Backed by more than 3 million members, they work with government leaders to support proven, cost-effective solutions to save lives and help build sustainable futures.

‘ONE isn’t a charity or grant-making organisation. At ONE, we don’t ask for your money. We ask for your voice.’

As a proud member of BritMums, I’m using my voice to help spread the message and encourage more mums and families to make a difference.

Here is how you can help:

Sign up to ONE

Follow the journey of Michelle and the team with the #ONEMums and #ONEMoms hash tag on Twitter

Join in with the It Only Takes #ONEMums meme

All you have to do is take the letters of ONEMums (or ONEMoms) and create phrases or just words that sum up being a mum for you. Add yourself to the ONEMum linky. Please tag others.
