Weekend Scoop for London Families (Sep 27-30)

Thu: Mums on the Go Charity Autumn Winter Style Evening at Jigsaw, 79 High Street Wimbledon, SW19 (Wimbledon tube)
Join top stylists from NHJ Style, the team of former 10 Years Younger presenter and celeb stylist Nicky Hambleton-Jones at a special evening looking at trends for A/W, how to dress for your shape, personal advice and more. There’s a charity raffle in aid of Kids Company with prizes from Cath Kidston, Julia Boggio Photography, Elys of Wimbledon and more. 7-10pm, £25 (Sep 27)

Fri-Sun: Handa’s Surprise at Lyric Hammersmith, W6 (Hammersmith tube)
The ever popular Little Angel Theatre production using songs, dance and puppetry to retell the modern kids’ classic about an African village girl on a visit to her friend. Messy play (£5) and free Family Sunday crafting after the show. For ages 2-5. 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm & 2.30pm; £8/family £30/messy play + show £11 (Sep 28-30)

Sat: Family Fun Session at Wandsworth Museum, 38 West Hill, SW18 (East Putney tube)
Ready, steady, go for this day of storytelling inspired by the area’s disappearing rivers and noisy bridges of the past. Then make your own boat to race in the boating pool. For ages 0-10. 1.30-3.30pm, child £3/adult FREE (Sep 29)

Sat: City Life Family Festival at Leadenhall Market, EC3 (Bank tube)
Fan the flames at this Olympic throwback event with tons of sporting activities including competitions for under 5s, indoor rowing, basketball, ping pong, athletics track, Wii Fit tent, appearances from Mandeville and Wenlock and more. Plus there’s a chance to see police horse and fire engine displays and climb aboard the Hackney Play Bus. 12-4pm, FREE (Sep 29)

Sat: Newham London Waterfront Festival, Royal Victoria Dock, E16 (Royal Victoria DLR)
Visit the riverside for a day of family fun including live shows from The Bootleg Beatles, London School of Samba, Juggling Inferno and loads more acts; a chance to explore the urban sustainability exhibition the Siemens Crystal for free; boat trips, wakeboarding, aqua ball and other activities. Don’t miss the fireworks finale! 2-9pm, FREE (Sep 29)

Sat-Sun: Royal Museums Greenwich Literary Weekend: Spies & Secrets, National Maritime Museum, SE16 (Greenwich DLR)
Arrive dressed to kill for a weekend of spy-themed family activities, including crafts for mini secret agents and a treasure hunt around the famous museum. At 3pm on Sat, catch a screening of Spy Kids (PG). 12-4pm, FREE but booking advised for film (Sep 29-30)

Sun: Big Draw, Big Make at V&A Museum, Cromwell Rd, SW7 (South Kensington tube)
It’s a day of artsy fun launching the month-long Big Draw festival organised by the Campaign for Drawing. Join talks and live demos by the likes of Quentin Blake, Roger La Borde and Gerald Scarfe, take part in digital drawing games, watch top cartoonists battle it out and meet Mr Maker from CBeebies. 11am-4pm, FREE (Sep 30)

Sun: Family Day: Breakers Yard at Sutton House, 2 and 4 Homerton High St, E9 (Hackney Central overground)
Come along and explore the imaginative new space Breakers Yard with a family fun day of painting, performances, growing and other activities. 12-4pm, adult £3/child £1/family £6.90 (Sep 30)
