Weekend Scoop for London Families (Jun 8-10, 2012)

Our pick of where to take London kids and families, from garden squares to topsy turvy tea parties.

Sat-Sun: London Green Fair, Regent’s Park, NW1 (Regent’s Park tube)
The largest, most laid-back celebration of eco-grooviness is a truly family friendly affair, with loads on for kids from the spectacle of electric bikes to petting animals, workshops, crafts, baby chill zone and more. Plus 2 lives stages, hundreds of boutique stalls and delicious grub for all. 12-8.30pm (Sat) and 12-7pm (Sun), FREE (Jun 9-10)

Sat-Sun: Open Garden Squares Weekend, across London
Take a leisurely stroll through any of 208 gorgeous green spaces across the Capital, many of them opening to the public for one weekend only. One ticket gives access to all. From 9am daily, times vary; £7 adv/£9 door/under 12s FREE (Jun 9-10)

Sun: Family Day: Topsy Turvy Tea Party at Geffrye Museum, Kingsland Rd, Shoreditch E2 (Hoxton overground)
It’s a day of fun for little ones and their big people at this garden party with crafts, arts and music, celebrating Open Garden Squares weekend. 12-4pm, FREE (Jun 10)

Sun: Sword in the Stone at Ham House and Garden, Ham St, Ham, Richmond-upon-Thames, TW10 (Richmond overground)
Enjoy a picnic in the stunning surroundings followed by a tale of magic and merriment with Cambridge Touring Theatre’s lively adaptation of a legend, featuring Merlin and a boy named Wart. Post-show workshop for ages 5+. 5-7.45pm, adult £12.50/child £9.50/family £40/under 2s FREE (Jun 10)
