ETY Kids Safe Listening Earphones (Trendy Toddler edition)

June 20, 2012 //  by Uju//  1 Comment

Here’s my future soccer star feeling rather cool with himself, plugged into my iPad with his brand new earphones.

And those aren’t any ordinary earphones – they’re ETY Kids 5 safe-listening earphones by Etymotic, the audio specialists, designed to help preserve little ears for a lifetime of good hearing.

We were sent a pair to review** and at first I was worried that Ezra might find them awkward, since he’s only ever worn the generic Mr Men headphones Santa brought him last Christmas.

But Ezra was thrilled to get a set “just like Daddy’s” that you slot inside your ear and at first try he wore them happily for 45 minutes in front of my laptop, watching NBA on YouTube (yup, he’s a sports geek).

ETY Kids earphones come with kid-friendly tips that are, by Ezra’s account, comfy to wear and also form a seal against background sound.

The ‘phones provide high-definition sound quality but won’t exceed safe levels, even if your Kid Rock cranks up the volume on his mp3 player for up to 4 hours.

I’m the proud owner of custom Etymotic noise-isolating earphones** (they literally injected a silicon mould into my ear to get the perfect fit, a very bizarre experience) and I can assure you, the difference is crystal.

They also make the ETY Kids 3 headset specifically for Apple products that features 3-button control, a mic and an inbuilt app allowing kids to hear important noises like traffic (or Mum yelling your name), without needing to unplug.

Wow I am so impressed by the gadgetry here and the family reverence for great ear pieces! Silicon moulds, how cool is that? My headphones I wear to go jogging always fall out though, so I can see the benefits :)
