Weekend Scoop for London Families (Nov 3-6)

Halloween’s over but the party continues at Wellcome Collection’s Day of the Dead event, and to round up this week’s London family activities we’ve added one scoop each for Mum and Dad. Enjoy!

Thu-Sat: The Very Hungry Caterpillar at Richmond Theatre, the Green, Surrey TW9 (Richmond overground)
Three of Eric Carle’s best-loved tales including the Mixed-Up Chameleon are retold for the stage using glowing puppetry. For ages 2+. 2.30pm (Thu), 10.30am & 1pm (Fri & Sat); £11 (Nov 3-5)

Sat: LivingGreen Centre Launch and Fun Day at the Stables, Morden Hall Park, SM4 (Morden tube)
Celebrate the opening of the newly renovated stable yard featuring cafe, craft stalls and kids activities. 12-4pm, FREE (Nov 5)

Sat: Day of the Dead at Wellcome Collection, 215 Euston Rd, NW1 (Euston tube)
It’s fiesta time at the Mexican festival of remembrance with sugar skulls, dancing skeletons, stories, mariachi band and more. Plus a chance to scope out the Wellcome Collection’s ‘Miracles and Charms’ exhibition. For all ages. 12-5pm, FREE

Mum Scoop

Fri-Tue: Shoes for Show: The Sculptural Art of High Heels, the Loading Bay, 91 Brick Lane, E1 (Aldgate East tube)
Go behind the scenes of haute couture’s foot fetish, with an exclusive look at shoes sculpted for any sensation but comfort. Bespoke and one-off creations by Daphne Guinness and Christian Louboutin among other killer heels on display. 11am-7pm (Fri-Sat & Mon-Tue); 11am-5pm (Sun), FREE (Nov 4-8)

Dad Scoop

Sat: Regent Street Motor Show, Regent St, W1 (Oxford Circus tube)
Petrol heads get revved up for a showcase of more than 300 stunning vehicles past, present and future. Celebrate the joint 50th birthday of Jaguar E-Type and Mini Cooper with 50 cars of each model taking the streets. 10.30am-4pm, FREE (Nov 5)

Local Pick

Sun: Family Barn Dance at Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent’s Park Rd, NW1 (Regent’s Park tube)
Doh-si-doh your partner, whatever their size, at this lively dance for all ages with a band and caller to help you through the steps. Popular monthly shindig held by the English Folk Dance and Song Society. 3-5pm, adult £5/child £3 (Nov 6)
