POW! African Gift Guide and Pop-Up Shop

November 28, 2011 //  by Uju//  2 Comments

One of the many pleasures of going abroad is the thrill of hunting down treasures to bring back.

Since we can’t make it to Nigeria this Christmas (and boy do I miss a Naija Christmas), I’ve been poring through the African Gift Guide put together by the team at Catch a Vibe.

All the items selected are sourced from designers with an African connection – whether handmade or simply inspired by the mother continent.

You’ll find 28 gift ideas under £50 with something to suit every style, from one of our personal favourites, designer Eva Sonaike’s luxury cushions in wax batik to these ‘tribal print’ plimsoles by Ohema Ohene.

What’s more Catch a Vibe is offering readers a chance to win one of 12 of the products listed (deadline Dec 2).

I’ve got my eye on the Urbanknit Sunrise iPad case in Ankara cloth.

My Asho Pop-Up Boutique

And to experience Urbanknit up close, along with some of today’s hottest African designers, head to the My Asho Xmas Pop-Up Boutique next weekend in Notting Hill.

The My Asho Xmas Pop-Up Boutique offers a chance to browse adult and kids’ fashion, interiors and accessories featuring the craftsmanship of top names like TAN by Tiffany Amber, Jewel by Lisa, Kiki Clothing and Isossy Children. Here you can buy gifts in the £5 to £90 range or snap up a dress for the party season.

My Asho Xmas Pop-Up Boutique is at 47 Pembridge Rd, W11 (Notting Hill Gate tube) on Dec 3-4, 10am-6pm. Visit myasho.com
