iPads hit the Road with Disney Cars 2 Appmates

October 30, 2011 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

If the sight of your little ones smearing their mucky paws on your iPad bothers you, then the thought of them driving toy cars across the iPad screen could send you over the edge.

Screech!

Get a load of this action though.

Pretty cool, huh?

They’re called Disney Cars 2 Appmates, a brand new range that combines the joy of apps with the tactile satisfaction of an actual toy.

Just download the free app from iTunes and your iPad is transformed into a virtual racetrack for any Cars 2 Appmate, using a variety of backgrounds from Radiator Springs.

Each Appmate has its own sensor that triggers different features and as well as straight races, there are missions to complete and a chance to win hubcaps.

Babes about Town was invited to check out Appmates at Disney HQ where we also got to watch the movie Cars 2. I must admit I found the sequel quite hectic, but my little roadsters were gripped from start to finish.

And speaking of grip, it was a major challenge trying to prise one of the Appmates out of my 2-year-old’s fist after he’d had a chance to play with it!

This has to be a serious contender for the toy that every mini (and possibly more than a few Misters) will be driving Santa crazy for this Christmas.

Start your engines.

Appmates cost £12.95 for a single or £19.99 for a twin-pack and can be bought online via Apple or Disney or at Apple Stores and select Disney Stores. The app is free and available for download on iTunes.
