Thu-Fri: My Foundling Hospital at Foundling Museum, 40 Brunswick Sq, WC1 (Russell Sq tube)
Imagine what kind of hospital a foundling would have dreamed of, draw it and add it to the big Foundling Museum mural. Part of the Family Fun weekend series at the museum. 10.30am-12.30pm & 2-4pm, free (Jul 28-29)

Sat: Tim & Light at Rich Mix, Bethnal Green Rd, E1 (Liverpool St tube)
Follow the epic journey of Tim and his cat Light as they embark on a magical mystery tour told through playful puppetry. 11am & 2pm, £5 (Jul 30)

Sat: Horrible Histories: Free Family Prom at Royal Albert Hall, South Kensington SW7 (South Ken tube)
Go on a riotous trip through time with the madcap crew from CBBC’s Horrible Histories in this special performance for families, with popular songs from the hit show. 11am-1pm, free (Jul 30)

Kids about Town
Sat-Sun: Gladiator Games at Guildhall Yard, EC2 (St. Paul’s tube)
Watch dramatic recreations of gladiatorial style combat (complete with sound effects and gore) in London’s only remaining Roman amphitheatre, part of the Olympic 2012 preview celebrations. May not be suitable for the youngest kids. 12-1pm & 3-4pm, Adult £15/concs. £12/Child £10/under 5s free. (Jul 30-31)

Special Event
Fri-Sun: Vintage Festival at Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, SE1 (Embankment tube)
Don your glad rags for a 3-day celebration of all things retro, with more than 70 live performances, 150 DJs, dressing-up boxes, exhibitions, stalls, catwalk shows, cocktails and more taking over the South bank. Tickets and times vary, with lots of free activities. Check the programme for details. (Jul 29-31)
