Fri-Sat: Youth Festival at Institut Francais South Kensington, SW7

Celebration of French literature for ages 3 upwards, with films, stories, readings and a draw-off between Quentin Blake and Francois Place among the highlights. (Nov 17-20, pictured)

Sat: Mini Maestro Family Concert at St Martin-in-the-Fields, WC2
A family concert led by John Landor with a chance to beat the drum, compete in a quiz and play musical chairs to some of the most famous classical pieces. 4.45pm, £8 adults, £6 kids under 16. Pre-booking advised.

Fri-Sun: Enchanted Woodland at Syon Park, TW7
Take a magical walk through this beautiful park in Brentford, Middlesex with trees illuminated by more than 1000 lights in a spectacular display. £5 adults, £2 kids, 5-8pm. (ends Dec 5)

Local Pick
Sun: Camden Christmas Lights Switch On Party, Camden Town, NW1
Dub step act Katy B flicks the switch at this traffic-free event with 1000 Camden market stalls, family activities and musical acts. From 11am-4.30pm, lights on 4.25pm. (Nov 21)
