There are no less than three exclamation marks in the title of the Go!Go!Go! Show, a brand new musical for the toddler to tween market.
Yup, it’s that type of show – literally bursting with gusto and good, squeaky clean fun.
There’s a heavyweight roster of talent behind the production, with choreography by Paul Domaine (Sugababes, The Saturdays), writing by Dean Wilkinson (CBeebies, Ant & Dec), and music from Mike Stock and Steve Crosby (Stock Aitken & Waterman, Steps). If any of those names scream ‘cheese fest’ to you, then you’re probably not the target demographic.
But if you don’t mind a dip in the old fondue (come on, who could resist Steps?), and you want to put a genuine grin on your little ones’ faces, then skip on over to the Leicester Square Theatre this summer.
The plot, for what it’s worth, is something about a sock-munching Fluffalope that’s discovered by our gang of five: dizzy blonde Gemma, clipboard Holly, songbird Kirsten, martial artist Steve and magic man Carl.
There’s not much in terms of subtext or story development for adults, so I must admit zoning out a couple of times. However my four-year-old was surprisingly up to speed. In fact Ezra was so hooked that at the interval, he refused to budge from his seat.
‘I want to watch the show, Mummy!’
Only 17 months, Jed was equally caught up. Aside from a few bouts of restlessness, he sat happily on my lap waving his glow stick, pointing, humming and clapping along.
The highlights of the show for me were in the second half: a couple of song and dance numbers that were true pop gems and what can only be described as a ‘sock it to ’em’ finale that had everyone out of their seats.
For Ezra, it was the Fluffalope sightings and the chance to meet the cast afterwards. You couldn’t hold my little man back.
I think he’s got a crush on that Gemma.
On the Spot
Maureen, mum to Rhys, aged 9
‘It was loads of fun, I enjoyed all the singing and dancing and would definitely recommend it. The only thing is that it’s really hot inside the theatre!’ Rhys added: ‘My favourite character is Steve because he does karate’. (We think the correct name was Itchi Oo, Rhys!)

90 minutes absolute delight for children of all ages, and for the adults beats Bond for sheer escapist fun! I loved it and highly recommend you beg borrow or steal a little person if you don’t have one of your own to take!
The band are simply superb – nice looking guys and girls who sing, dance and engage with their audience, even taking time to sign autographs and pose for endless photos when the show is over.
