Pizzeria Oregano: A slice of Italy in N1

April 27, 2010 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

When you’re looking for a spot to eat with the little ones, you can rarely go wrong with a pizza joint. Our brood recently enjoyed a family dinner at Oregano, near Angel in N1.

This cheerful little pizzeria has a diner feel inside with metal chairs and unromantic lighting.

In typical Italian style, they have a welcoming attitude to families. The owner happily relieved us of our folded stroller and rolled out a high chair for Jed before we’d even taken off our coats.

My hubby’s been raving about Oregano for ages so it was time to see what all the fuss was about. Things got off to a good start when they gave us a complementary bowl of yummy garlic olives which my four-year-old and I quickly wolfed down.

We sat right in front of the open kitchen. Ezra was excited to be able to watch the dough being pummelled and the pizza being shovelled into the oven. He was even happier when it arrived swiftly on his plate. They don’t have a separate kids’ menu so we ordered an extra tomato and mozzarella pizza to split with the babes.

Oregano’s pizzas are probably the tastiest I’ve eaten in London for quite a while. It’s the perfect combo of a light thin base with generous toppings, just the right amount of cheese and a deliciously fresh tomato sauce.

Even my stroppy 14-month-old, who was playing a particularly uninspiring game of ‘toss the sippy cup on the ground’, cheered up once he got his hands on a slice. Luckily neither the staff nor fellow customers seemed bothered by baby’s floor show.

Bite Size Review
Oregano is delicious, fresh and light Italian pizza at a reasonable price in a family-friendly setting.

Facilities: highchair, no baby-changing
