Fly girls and boys head to Streatham on Sunday for their annual kite-fest on the Common.
Kites of all shapes and sizes, from giant octopus to teeny butterflies, will take to the skies at the Streatham Common Kite Day.
Catch Piero Serra, top UK trick flyer, do his stuff or watch father and son teams pulling some strings. Spectators can keep their hands busy with a hog roast, beer stalls, pancakes or Ishmail’s Mother currys.
If you can’t make it to Streatham but fancy mugging at or tugging some kites of your own, here are some other fly spots:
1. Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath is hugely popular.
2. Hackney Marshes offers loads of air space.
3. Try power kiting with Kite Vibe in Richmond Park.
Streatham Kite Day is on Sunday Apr 11 at Streatham Common.

It’s a very cool kite. Our whole family went to the kite show yesterand it was loads of fun to see all those flyers and perfectly windy conditions. Actually probably too windy as we scurried home after a few hours of freezing our butts off!
