B Girls battle at Southbank Centre

April 2, 2010 //  by Uju//  3 Comments

True girl power is on show this weekend as Southbank Centre hosts b.supreme, the UK’s festival of women in hip hop.

b. supreme is a three-day tournament of battles and mind-bending displays from local and international crews and soloists.

Catch the UK premiere of leading Bgirl Rokafella’s documentary All the Ladies Say, featuring six iconic street dancers who have broken through in this macho scene.

Or watch the Bonnie and Clyde Battle when the world’s finest male and female breakdancers go head to head.

There’s music from The Boxettes, All Girls Beat Box Performance and wrapping things up with a free performance at 5pm on Sunday, live wire Ms. Dynamite.

Ready to try out some crazy footwork? Join a workshop led by Rokafella or French stylist Cathy Nguyen. And don’t miss the Under 14s Freestyle Battle, where kids not much older than yours pull stunts to make your eyes pop.

b. supreme is at Southbank Centre until Sun Apr 4 and many of the events are free. Check the web site for details.
