LolliBop at Ministry of Sound

February 22, 2012 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

‘Everybody go crazy like you’ve had too many E numbers!’

It was that type of party.

LolliBop Mini Disco, held over half-term at Ministry of Sound, featured everything from DJs and beatboxing to wacky hosts in headdresses, costumed heroes and a conga line.

The target age range was 3 to 10 but there was plenty of nostalgic appeal for the grown-ups. I spotted one couple snapping photos of their toddler propped up on the bar. Ah, memories.

Our crew was all about the ‘Boom Box’ room – live stage, serious speakers (they had free ear plugs to protect the littlest clubbers) and a truly up for it crowd.

CBBC’s Dick and Dom cranked things up with pie-in-your-face energy and roof-raising tunes.

There’s no feeling like leaping around with your kids to House of Pain in one of the world’s most famous nightclubs.

Jump Around? The floor went mental.

We staggered out in daylight (5pm), grinning like fools and stinking of booze (somebody spilled beer on our coats).

Plus ça change.

LolliBop Festival is in Regent’s Park on August 17-19, 2012. Early bird tickets go on sale soon. Visit www.lollibopfestival.com for ticket info
