The Ultimate Bedroom Reset for Busy Parents

Juggling parenting, work, and the family household can be a real struggle at times, leaving little time for yourself. As a result, it might unfortunately mean that your bedroom becomes an afterthought.

No matter how busy you might be, it’s still important (and nice!) to refresh your space. Once the children are finally in bed, you deserve to completely relax and get a good night’s sleep. Here are some tips on how to reclaim your bedroom and stop life getting in the way of your own nighttime ritual – even while taking care of everyone else!

  1. Declutter with Intent

Physical clutter often leads to mental chaos. For busy parents, decluttered surfaces can make the difference between a successful morning routine and a stressful one. There’s nothing worse than not being able to find exactly what you need when you only have five minutes to get ready, as it is. Clearing out unused items and organising your space can not only help routines run smoothly, but also make a room feel more peaceful.

Once the initial decluttering is done, it’s worth trying to create good habits so everything stays tidy. Try labelled containers or transparent storage boxes, and stick to the one-in, one-out rule.

  1. Invest in Quality Bedding

Comfort is key, so why not purchase new, good-quality bedding to give your room a mini makeover now? Breathable sheet and comfy mattress toppers, as well as throw pillows, are all small upgrades that are easily achievable and make your room feel that little more luxurious.

If you have to deal with a starfish-style sleeper or kids who like to sneak into your bed during the night, consider upgrading to a king-size bed. This simple decision can give you and your partner that little bit of extra room, which makes a huge difference during the night and helps you get a blissful night’s sleep.

  1. Lighting, Textiles, and Moods

Different lighting and tactile surfaces can influence the mood or feel of a room. For example, adding soft throws and a couple of rugs, alongside adjustable lamps, can make a room feel much cosier than one with minimal décor and harsh lighting.

If you’ve recently moved into a new build, starting from scratch can be intimidating and time-consuming. However, after a bit of investment, you’ll be rewarded with a warm and inviting space that naturally feels relaxing and cosy.

  1. Add Personal Touches and Start Calming Rituals

Finally, make sure to add some personal touches. This could be photos of you and your children, your favourite prints/artworks, or basic home décor additions like candles and reed diffusers.

Creating small nighttime rituals can help you to relax before bed. Swap doom scrolling on TikTok for reading a chapter of a book or take five minutes to reflect on your day and journal before bed. These small changes can make a huge difference in your quality of sleep and leave you feeling truly rested and ready for those chaotic mornings.
