Thu-Sat: A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Shakespeare’s Globe at Globe Theatre, 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, SE1 9DT (Blackfriars/Mansion House tube)
Magic and mischief abound in this adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. Oberon and Titania cast their spells over  hapless lovers and a confused cast of amateur actors in a show to enchant young and old alike. Thu-Sat: Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival, Canada Square Park and around Canary Wharf, E14 5AB (Canary Wharf tube/DLR/rail)

Visit Battersea and enter this pop-up planetarium where you can explore the wonders of the universe. Watch a short film on a 360º screen with projections and storytelling designed to spark your curiosity and understanding of the cosmos. Sat: Bankside Frost Fair in and around Bankside, SE1 (Southwark tube, London Bridge tube/rail)
The Frost Fair is back at Bankside. This historic event harks back to circa 1605 to 1814, when the River Thames froze over 24 times and Bankside residents held ‘Frost Fairs’ on the ice. Modern visitors can relive the fun at Frost Fair 2026 which promises live music, stalls, games, workshops and even an elephant! All ages welcome. 11am-late; FREE (Jan 31)

Go under the sea with the Little London Ballet for this mesmerising interpretation of Hans Christian Andersen’s famous story. The little mermaid leaves her underwater home for an adventure full of love, bravery and self-discovery. All ages. 6pm (Sat), 11am, 2pm & 6pm (Sun); from £26 (Jan 31-Feb 1)

Sun: Big Fish Little Fish ‘Animal Fantastical’ Family Rave at Dorking Halls, Reigate Road, Dorking RH4 1SG (Dorking rail)
Join resident DJs Baker and Beale for an ‘animal fantastical’ themed family rave in the company of the legendary Big Fish Little Fish. They’ll be spinning club classics to get your mini beasts boogieing with bubbles, balloons, foam and optional fancy dress. Doxa Faces will transform you into your animal of choice (separate fee) and you can craft a creature on Wacky Wheadon’s craft tables. All ages, best for 0-8 and grownups. 2pm-4pm; adult £15.02/child £11.86/pre-walking infant FREE (Feb 1)

Every Sunday in February, families can enjoy a delicious Sunday roast while their youngsters play with arts, crafts and table-top fun at the Multi Story in-house kitchen. This pop-up children’s corners offers supervised fun for ages 3-10 (Kids Tables members are DBS checked with experience in childcare, education or kids’ entertainment). There’s more animal fun at this engaging show from Scarlet Oak Theatre. Using live music and puppet characters, two creature carers invite viewers to hear about animal conservation through storytelling. A playful and impactful experience for ages 3+. 11am & 2pm; from £14 (Feb 1)

Sun: What Happens Next?: Make and Take Craft Workshop at Discover Children’s Story Centre, 383-387 High Street Stratford E15 4QZ (Stratford tube/rail/DLR/overground)
Illustrator and educator Jhinuk Sarkar leads this sensory craft workshop, using illustration, fabric and collage techniques and smells inspired by Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Make a character hat, a scratch and sniff illustration, or a collaborative story banner.
