We absolutely loved our trip to Eltham Palace earlier this summer, checking out the historical home with its stunning art deco. This Christmas in London, you can see the palace bedazzled with light projections, holographic birds, sparkling fountains and tunnels of fairy lights. Wembley Park presents its first immersive winter light trail, featuring artworks curated by artists from around the world. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park, W2 2UH (Hyde Park Corner tube)
One of the top things to do in London with kids at Christmas is this huge fair in the heart of the city. Browse for gifts and foodie treats in the German chalets, ride the Giant Observation Wheel, catch shows like Paddington on Ice and Zippo’s Circus or brave the cold in the Magical Ice Kingdom. Perfect for little Frozen fans. Head to gorgeous Kew Gardens to gawp at glittering spiral trees and laser light projections. Stroll across the Christmassy tree canopies and through a twinkling Tunnel of Light, rounding off with the Palm House Pond finale. One of the best things to do in London with kids at Christmas (or any time of year) is visit the Harry Potter Studio Tour. For the festive season, you’ll see Hogwarts castle, the Great Hall and the Gryffindor common room transformed, along with the Weasley kitchen dressed for a festive feast. Expect snow scenes, special effects fire and exciting props. This year’s Gingerbread City is shaping up to be the most delectable one yet. Every year, makers, designers and architects fashion the Christmassy creation as a fundraiser for the Museum of Architecture. We had a Dates with Dad outing to see Life of Pi at London Zoo one summer and it was great. So this sounds like one of the coolest things to do in London with kids at Christmas.
