Tuck into a veritable family feast at the latest Nibble+Squeak event, this time in the gorgeous Garden Cafe. Join likeminded mums, dads and their bubbas in the glass and beaten-bronze pavilion building for a stellar meal. Sample menu includes mussels, bacon and leeks, sea trout with new potatoes, lamb leg, and chocolate tart with creme fraiche. Yums! These brilliant baby and toddler friendly events are springing up in major cities around the world. It’s an invitation to dine in a relaxed setting, meet local parents, discover new eateries, and enjoy an early afternoon out with the whole brood. Tate Britain teams up with the wonderful Institute of Imagination for a day of digital fun, taking place all around their galleries. Join experts from the institute as they lead hands-on sessions of making and creating. Learn to code, remix, use painting bots, create animated visuals, and play a motion sensor orchestra. The original family boogie session pops up at Shoreditch Town Hall for an early morning disco takeover. Baby Loves Disco’s resident DJs will be spinning the party classics and big floor fillers to put you and your mini movers in a dancing mood. This joyful affair features play tents and inflatables, bubbles and balloons, dress-up, arts and crafts, healthy snacks, games and giveaways. 10am-12pm, £4/pre-walkers FREE (Mar 24)

EEA and Output Arts aren’t impressed with the current weather, and they’re bringing spring to the masses by force. Spring Rising is set to be a dazzling celebration of the new season, with a glowing community procession, live music, costumed dancers and a festive atmosphere. It will all culminate in the illuminated garden with finale show featuring the work of Sophia Walker. Magical moments to share with your kids (if they’re old enough to stay up!). Go back to the Time Travel Club this Saturday, for an espionage themed family day out (rather fitting for some of the craziness in the news lately!). Go undercover and investigate the life and times of World War 2 spy Karl Richter. You can design your own tool kit, discover all about secret codes and wear a crafty disguise. One of the coolest and quirkiest events on the London calendar returns, as the goats Oxford and Cambridge go head to head in their annual race. If you’d rather not suffer the throngs at the riverside cheering on the Oxford vs Cambridge boat race, pop down to Spitalfields City Farm instead. The race is over in the blink of an eye, but it’s a fun day out with food stalls, live music and DJ, Shoreditch trendies mingling, and Brick Lane just around the corner. All ages welcome. DJ Food, who’s been with BFLF since the very beginning, sets the tone for an afternoon of grooving. We love the sound of a Sunday morning spent in the company of griot and jazz kora player Jally Kebba Susso. Drawing on a tradition of 74 generations of Gambian music, Jally plays the West African harp at breakneck speed, creating an infectious and intoxicating sound that’s both ancient and fresh. You might have caught him at festivals like Wilderness, Secret Garden Party and Shambala where he performed with his band Manding Sabu. A family friendly good time guaranteed.
