One of the fun things about blogging is finding yourself in unexpected places at strange times of day. Such as attending THIS MORNING LIVE’S press event on a Friday afternoon, drinking prosecco and eating cakes, while TV celebrities circle the room.
We’d been invited by Netmums for the official media launch of This Morning Live, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on May 18-21. My lovely friend Rachel, a fellow media mama, joined me at the studios for afternoon tea and conversation with the This Morning family.
The babes and I had driven past ITV studios recently on our London Kids Mini Cooper Tour, when Ezra swore he’d spotted Jedward exiting the building. On the day of our visit, it was pop group Steps that were causing a bit of a frenzy.
I didn’t catch a glimpse of the frothy foursome, but I did get a good look behind the scenes of This Morning, from green room to on-set kitchen. The set itself has a super relaxed vibe, you really do feel like you’re hanging out in somebody’s living room. We tucked into sandwiches and muffins while the sofa filled up with TV hosts.
The role call included Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, Rylan (of X Factor fame), Trinny (of Susannah fame), Dr Ranj, Sharon Marshall, Bryony Blake, Charlotte White, plus Luna and Lexy the Guide Dog puppies. At This Morning Live you can also catch up with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Gino D’Acampo, Alison Hammond, Lisa Faulkner, Dr Zoe, Paul A Young, Aldo Zilli, DJ BBQ and more presenters.
In the vein of Grand Designs Live and the Ideal Home Show, This Morning Live promises to be a lively mix of unfiltered chat, stalls and showcases covering the programme’s broad categories of fashion and style, home and gardening, food and drink, health, beauty and wellbeing.
If the media launch is anything to go by, it’s sure to be an entertaining day out. Rylan, as you might expect, is hilarious… very quick off the mark, with the cheekiest sense of humour. Things got even saucier once Eamonn arrived and started talking about his balls (bowels, people, he actually said bowels)!
Dr Ranj made us giggle too, quipping ‘Please come with all your questions. And your rashes.’
The chemistry and banter felt entirely natural, it’s clear they have a lot of fun, especially once the cameras are off.
After a quick Q&A session, the hosts were up decorating cupcakes with Charlotte in the kitchen (Rylan’s a dab hand at piping). Of course we didn’t miss our chance to grab snaps and selfies on the famous This Morning sofa. I must say it’s a comfy spot to park your booty. And the views of South Bank and River Thames behind are utterly fabulous, darlings.
