1. Bunny Hop & Seek at Museum of Brands, 111-117 Lancaster Road, Notting Hill, W11 1QT (Ladbroke Grove tube)
Hop along to the Museum of Brands over Easter to take part in their Bunny Hop and Seek trail, a sort of vintage Easter egg hunt where you’re searching for rabbits instead. Whizz down the time tunnel to discover famous fluffy creatures from the Duracell bunny to the Nesquik rabbit, Roger Rabbit to the Cadbury’s Bunny, all hidden in the museum’s collection. At the end, you’ll get a well-deserved chocolate treat. 10am-6pm (Tue-Sat), 11am-5pm (Sun); adult £9/child 7-15 £5/under 7s FREE (Apr 1-16)
2. GIANT Easter Duck Trail + Celebrity Dusty Ducks at WWT London Wetland Centre, Queen Elizabeth’s Walk, Barnes, SW13 9WT (Barnes Bridge rail/Hammersmith tube)
The WWT London is bursting with new babies this spring, but some of the ducklings have gone walks again. Trawl this wonderful nature reserve to find the little ducks and win a chocolate prize. You can also take part in Easter arts and crafts, and look for the celebrity Dusty ducks designed by the likes of Steve Backshall and Joanna Lumley, in partnership with Aardman Studios. 10am-5pm; £1 per trail plus regular admission adult from £12.26/child from £6.75/family of 4 from £34.36/under 4s FREE (Apr 1-17)
3. Easter Trail at Battersea Park Zoo, Queenstown Rd, south of Chelsea Bridge, SW11 4NJ (Battersea Park/Queenstown Rd rail, Sloane Square tube)
Go back to the zoo for an Easter egg hunt where the residents are wrapped around some delicious treats, but you’ll have to look hard to find them. Grab a quiz sheet from the entry to help you on your mission and earn a chocolate egg for your troubles. 4. How to Train Your Dragon Egg Trail at Shrek’s Adventure, Riverside Building, County Hall, Westminster Bridge Road, SE1 7PB (Waterloo/Embankment tube)
Hiccup and Toothless fans are called on an unusual Easter egg hunt experience at Shrek’s Adventure. Go hunting for rare Dragon eggs in the land of Far Far Away, as you tour this fun, interactive experience, inspired by Dreamworks animation features. You’ll wind up in the maternity ward to witness the live birth of a dragon from its egg! 5. Bank of England Museum: Chicks’ Great EGGscape, Bartholomew St, EC2R 8AH (Bank tube)
Uh oh, there are some cheeky chicks hidden all around the museum. Follow the Easter egg hunt trail to find those feathered friends, and hunt for the golden egg too. There’s also Easter animal masks and finger puppets to make and take, plus a chocolate egg for every young visitor. 10am-4.30pm, FREE (Apr 3-13)
6. Easter on the Epping Ongar Railway, Ongar station CM5 9AB or North Weald station CM16 6BT (via Epping tube)
Look out for Bertie the Easter Bunny on the Epping Ongar heritage diesel and steam trains this Easter weekend. On what’s touted as the longest Easter egg hunt in Essex, kids receive a sheet with clues to help them find numbered Easter eggs along their journey. The Bunny Hop kids disco is back, plus there’s face painting (charges apply) and a candy bar with traditional sweets for sale. 7. Kenwood House Easter Adventure Quest, Hampstead Lane, Hampstead, NW3 7JR (Hampstead Heath/Gospel Oak overground)
Meet a hero from the past – a king, a Roman centurion or even a butler – who will help you solve clues along this exciting Easter quest as you ramble around Kenwood House. It’s far from a traditional Easter egg hunt but the prize, as you might have guessed, is a chocolate treat! 11am-5pm, FREE (Apr 14-17)
8. Horniman Easter Fair at Horniman Museum, 100 London Rd, SE23 3PQ (Forest Hill overground)
Always popular, the Horniman hosts another cracking Easter fair filled with live music, an Alice in Wonderland storytelling performance for all ages, farmer’s market, March Hare puppet making, tea cup rides and bouncy castle, face painting and a chance to meet the Horniman bunny. And of course there’s an Easter egg hunt so come prepared to search for chocolate. This is a great opportunity to visit the Robot Zoo exhibition as featured in our Easter guide! 9. Buckingham Palace Easter Sunday Fun, SW1A 1AA (Victoria rail/tube, Hyde Park/Green Park tube)
It’s a royally good time at Buckingham Palace this Easter Sunday. Your little chicks can start off in the Learning Room to create and decorate their very own Easter basket. After that, it’s off for a majestic tour/Easter egg hunt in the Royal Mews, in search of hidden chocolate treasures. The Royal Mews is home to the royal collection of coaches and carriages. 11am-3pm, free with admission adult £10/child 5-17 £5.80/under 5s FREE (Apr 16)
10. Keats House Easter Bunnies Family Day, 10 Keats Grove, Hampstead, NW3 2RR (Hampstead Heath overground, Hampstead/Belsize Park tube)
Enjoy a Romantic afternoon in Hampstead over Easter Sunday at Keats House for their unusual Easter egg hunt. Go out in the gardens and around the house in search of missing bunnies. You can also make a carrot shaped cone to carry home your chocolate bounty. 1pm-4pm, FREE (£1 donation welcome) (Apr 16)
NATIONAL TRUST EASTER EGG HUNTS
The annual National Trust Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts offers a wonderful chance for families to visit simply gorgeous properties and gardens in and around London: trawl along to Sutton House Breaker’s Yard (Hackney), Fenton House and Garden (Hampstead), Morden Hall Park (Morden), Ham House (Richmond), Osterley Park and House (Isleworth), Red House (Bexleyheath), Claremont Landscape Garden (Esher) and more.
