On Blackheath Massive Attack

Some of you are reading my Brilliant Family Festivals Guide and my Camp Bestival preview with excitement and eagerly booking ahead.

While others I know are thinking ‘that’s all well and good but I can hardly be bothered to make it to the other side of the river, let alone camping overnight’!

Well fear not, my lovelies. Something wikkid this way comes and it’s happening right here in London. Read on…

THE FIRST EVER MUSIC & FOOD FESTIVAL ON BLACKHEATH COMMON LONDON

On Blackheath Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls

On Blackheath promises a diverse roster of artists, sumptuous dining experience, farmers market and much more over the weekend of Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2014 on the historic green space of London’s Blackheath Common SE3.

Headlining the event, and what will be both their only London festival shows this year, iconic music pioneers Massive Attack (Saturday) and punk folk rocker Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls (Sunday). The line-up also includes Aloe Blacc, Young Fathers, Hot Chip DJ Joe Goddard and Gilles Peterson (Saturday) as well as Imelda May, Levellers, Athlete, Slow Club and Steve Mason (Sunday).

On the supporting stages, there’ll be more alternative music, dance and DJs; for food lovers, visit the demo stage and the chef’s club, hosted by Gizzi Erskine (pictured) and featuring a range of Michelin-starred British talent with demos and treats to savour.

Best of all this festival is Family Friendly and offers a special area designed just for children and their carers, with arts & crafts workshops, games and special performances.

On Blackheath is on from 12pm-10.30pm (Sat) and 12pm-10pm (Sun) on Blackheath Common, SE3 0UA (Lewisham rail/DLR). Tickets adult £57.50 day, £99 weekend/under 16s £35 day, £60 weekend/under 5s FREE but ticket required. (Sep 13-14)
