Sat-Sun: LOCO London Comedy Film Festival: LOCO Jr & School of Slapstick, multiple venues
The London Comedy Film Festival presents its season for kids along with the School of Slapstick that teaches kids ages 6-12 the secrets of silent film comedy with professional tutors, costumes and props. The programme offers a School of Slapstick workshop (Sat 11.30am) + a screening of Charlie Chaplin in the Circus at Rich Mix in Shoreditch (Sat 1pm); plus Bugsy Malone at Greenwich Picturehouse (Sat 11am). On the last Sunday of the month, the Royal Opera House throws open its doors to kids for an afternoon of backstage tours, live make-up or stage combat demos, design workshops, dress-up and more fun. For ages 6+, younger ones welcome but some activities may be unsuitable for them. 12-4pm, adult £5/child £3 (Jan 26)

Book in for an all-nighter at the 7th annual festival of comic storytelling and improvisation where some of the UK’s top comedians create a 50-hour soap opera (in 25 two-hour episodes) across two days. Or you could just bring the kids to the Family Episode on Sunday to watch the increasingly sleep-deprived performers lurching towards the finale.
