Look what came for me in the post the other day.
A box of celebration goodies from Waitrose, part of their January ‘thank you’ campaign rewarding online shoppers with a free bottle of champagne!
This package was tailored for our household with a birthday gift for me (yummy toiletries from Neal’s Yard Remedies) and party kit including poppers, printed napkins, Happy Birthday bunting (you can personalise it with stickers too) and a bottle of Waitrose Brut NV Champagne.
As many of you know, we’ve got three birthdays coming up in February at Babes HQ. Plenty of reasons to crack open the bubbly!
I’ve got my 40th next week and rather than hiding my age, I’ve been shouting it from the rooftops.
The general response is ‘I would never have guessed,’ or ‘I don’t believe it!’ which is flattering, despite my grey hairs and the general wear and tear of parenting.
Then again I know so many women who look not just young for their age but simply amazing at 40+.
And check out this 100-year-old stunner, Mrs Vorese Fisher. There’s an entire century’s worth of love, laughter and light in her face.
Truly inspirational.
I celebrate turning 40, because I know so many people who never made it beyond 39. At my birthday party I’ll be drinking a toast to the ones we lost too soon.
I’ll also be toasting to my birthday boys who sometimes seem to be growing up way too fast.
And right now I’d like to say a toast to you, lovely readers.
You see, the end of January also marks my 4 year blogiversary and it’s been wonderful sharing this journey with those who’ve been with us since the beginning, as well as the new babes on the block.
I’ll be lining up something special to celebrate you guys over the coming months. In the meantime… cheers!
