Mini Men at Saracens Rugby Club

November 11, 2013 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

Saracens boys with rugby balls

Babe Papa took us to watch Saracens vs Newcastle Falcons the other weekend, at Allianz Park in Hendon, the home of Saracens rugby club (Big Apple Hot Dogs was one of the food stands on offer).

I must admit I’m a bit clueless about rugby although I’ve seen a few live games in my time (London Nigerians represent!) and always get a rush from the pace, strength and sheer ruggedness of the players. Abiye was in his element and the babes loved being so close to the action.

Watching Saracens

The best part was after the match when all the spectators rushed onto the pitch to watch a sizzling Guy Fawkes Night display. Then kids and adults alike stuck around for another couple of hours tossing rugby balls about and tackling each other to the ground. Ezra and Jed couldn’t believe they were allowed to play on a real rugby pitch and I scored my first ‘try’!

It’s a lovely family atmosphere at the club and we had a really fun day out.

Mini Men Ezra

The boys were feeling natty in their brand new swag from Mini Men. Ezra was sporting a long-sleeved top emblazoned with Future Footballer. Jed looked super fly in his Future Astronaut hoodie.

Mini Men Jed

Mini Men is the brainchild of my fellow Igbo mama Kelechi Ijomanta, who created the brand to provide positive, colourful and inspirational boys’ clothing for ages 0-7.

Kelechi says, ‘We are often bombarded with clothing that encourages our children to be rebels, to ‘walk on the wildside’ and generally be naughty. However, Mini Men UK is here to change all of that!

All our designs are positive and encourage your children to have confidence, self-esteem and dreams or aspirations! Life is too short to be so negative!’

Mini Men are running Dare to Dream, a t-shirt design competition where kids under 12 can draw whatever they want to become when they grow up. The best drawing will be printed on Mini Men t-shirts to be sold. What’s more, 40% of the sales will go to the winning pupil’s school!

Enter the Dare to Dream competition before Nov 22, 2013.
