How to choose your holiday in Tenerife

Thinking about booking a holiday to Tenerife?

It’s important to do your research before making your booking to make sure you have the best possible holiday. So, first things first – what kind of resort are you looking for?

Tenerife has plenty to choose from, whether you’re looking for a peaceful beach holiday to get away from the stresses and strains of everyday life; or perhaps you’re taking your family off on an active break full of water sports and adventures.

It’s the largest of the Canary Islands, so it’s not surprising there is something for everyone on Tenerife. About five million tourists head to Tenerife every single year to enjoy the glorious weather, beach life, restaurants, night-life and fabulous landscape.

Depending on the kind of holiday you’re after, you need to decide whether you want to book an apartment, villa, hotel or all inclusive resort.

There are many comparison web sites online to show you what other people have thought of local accommodation, so do as much reading up as you can before you go.

An all inclusive deal can certainly free you from a lot of hassle on your break. If you book in somewhere like the gorgeous all inclusive Bahia Principe San Felipe, you’ll find that you don’t have to worry about any of your meals, drinks or entertainment.

Luxurious rooms, fantastic service and drinks on the beach any time you feel like it, could be the way to your perfect holiday. But all the different kinds of accommodation available have their pros and cons — it all depends on what you and your holiday companions are looking to get from their holiday.

A villa or apartment can feel more autonomous than an all inclusive, and gives you the freedom to shop locally for food and have more control over what you eat and when. Or perhaps you’d prefer a mix of both, at a bed and breakfast hotel.

Make sure you have a look around to see what there is to do near your chosen location. Do you want to be by the beach beach, for example, or are you more interested in being in the middle of the city and the heart of the action?

Whichever you choose, you’ll find tonnes of activities to keep you busy while you’re in Tenerife, as well as the sunbathing, sea swimming and general sun worshipping the mild climate affords all year round. Perfect blue skies, sunshine and endlessly beautiful days are the hallmarks of this island hotspot!

If you’re after a holiday complete with a buzzing night-life, then you need to go to Tenerife in high season and stay in the Playa de las Americas area, where there is no shortage of clubs, bars, restaurants and people to enjoy it with.

For a more low-key experience, consider going out of season and to a more serene part of the island. You’ll still benefit from the beautiful climate and you’ll have all the peace and quiet needed to really recharge those batteries.
