Here’s Jed hanging with TV hero Humf at an I CAN Chatterbox Mad Chatter’s Tea Party for bloggers held in central London recently.
The gentle giant bear left my little one tongue-tied — quite the opposite effect of the I CAN charity that helps thousands of kids annually develop their speech and communication with confidence.
It was a sweet event where mums and dads munched on tasty treats while the little ones got busy with a song, rhyme and dance session led by the lively rep from Boogie Mites.
I know first-hand how engaging with my babes daily with fairly ‘grown-up’ conversation, as well as telling stories and most importantly, singing has helped their language evolve.
I feel blessed (often exhausted) having two little chatterboxes but the sad reality is that 1 in 10 kids in the UK, that’s at least 1 million children nationwide, struggles with some form of communication difficulty.
I CAN’s mission is to make sure that no child is left out or left behind because they can’t make their feelings known or their voice heard.
Join the Chatterbox Challenge!
This year, the Chatterbox Challenge takes on an Alice in Wonderland theme as I CAN invites schools, nurseries pre-schools and playgroups across the country to throw a Mad Chatter’s Tea Party fundraiser for the charity.
Kids can get sponsored for taking part in the tea party where they can sing songs, rhymes and chatter to their heart’s content, all for a wonderful cause.
All those who take part are eligible to win prizes including Humf DVDs, books, CDs or even a special live appearance from the bear himself.
The I CAN Chatterbox Challenge Week takes place on Mar 1-8, 2013 although you’re welcome to throw a tea party at any time of the year. Register here for your free pack or visit www.chatterboxchallenge.org.uk for more info
