Win a Savoir Fit & Flare Winter Coat (12 Days of Xmas 2012)!

December 20, 2012 //  by Uju//  2 Comments

Lynda Bellingham Isme Ad

We’ve got our hands on a sneak preview of an interview with actress Lynda Bellingham, the front woman of the ISME Christmas ad campaign.

Lynda chats to ISME about playing Cinderella in the panto, why she’s not a fan of last-minute Christmas shopping and the military precision she uses to get her Christmas dinner ready.

Here are a few snippets:

Are you a last-minute buyer or do you plan in advance?
I try to do it all year round and because I think, especially, A) last minute Christmas gifts cost you more money, and B) I think there’s nothing worse than being given a present that people haven’t really bought it for you, they’ve bought a bar of soap that’ll cover anybody.

The thing is, for a little bit of time and effort you could have found something for the same money that really appealed or really meant something to that person, so I do try, with close friends and family, if I’m on my travels and think ‘they’d love that’. (For stocking fillers) I always put in a tangerine and some gold money.

So you don’t find (Christmas) stressful?
It is stressful, but I like the challenge. In essence, it’s any Sunday lunch, and as I do it most Sundays, it’s really like a military operation. It’s having all your ducks in a row. Preferably have your potatoes peeled the day before even, if you can. That’s the secret – the secret is to have enough pots.

And my big thing – I’ve got a big thing about crackers. I love Christmas crackers. And there’s a shop in Muswell Hill in North London called Martyn’s, which is like an old-fashioned grocers, and it’s been a family business for years and years, and he has always got these amazing crackers. I’ve been going to buy my crackers there for nearly 30 years now!
