We used to throw a ‘disco’ in our lounge every Friday night until the downstairs neighbours read us the riot act.
Now the babes have perfected the art of the semi-silent disco — even my 3-year-old does his version of locking, popping and spinning on his head without making too much of a racket.
Lately we’ve been doing it Gangnam Style to Pop Party 10, the brand new CD compilation featuring 12 number 1s and 22 massive chart hits by the likes of Psy, Rihanna, One Direction, JLS, Tulisa, Katy Perry, Ne-Yo, Rizzle Kicks and Justin Bieber.
Even though it wouldn’t occur to me to buy individual albums for most of these tweeny acts, as an avid Radio 1 kitchen bopper, I’m secretly quite fond of many of these tracks.
So it’s great to have them on one compilation and the boys are raving about Pop Party 10. I think my 6-year-old was most excited to receive his very own album that didn’t feature Twinkle Twinkle or The Wheels on the Bus!
While Jed threw shapes to The Wanted, Ezra studied the CD cover, nodding wisely at the track listings. ‘Do you know what my favourite song is, Mum? It’s We Are Young (by Fun feat. Janelle Monae). And it’s here!’
Pop Party 10 is the perfect mix of upbeat tunes to get little (and large) feet moving and would be the ideal soundtrack for a kids’ birthday or family Christmas party.
Even better, the album comes with a bonus DVD featuring 13 music videos including Psy’s hilarious global smash.
