Potato needs a bath

There’s a Halloween boogie, a baby show and a potato desperately in need of a bath in this weekend’s guide filled with activities for London kids and parents. Have fun!

Fri-Sun: The Baby Show at Earl’s Court, SW5 (Earl’s Court tube)
Snap up bargains, watch live demos of the latest in baby gear, see maternity and kids’ catwalk shoes and mingle with other soon-to-be and recent babymakers at this huge bi-annual event. 10am-5p (Oct 26-28)

Sat: Baby Loves Disco Halloween Boogie at Sway, 61-65 Great Queen St, WC2 (Covent Garden tube)
Put on your grooviest, goriest outfits for a special Halloween-themed disco at this popular nightclub with the infamous BLD crew. There’s 4 floors of fun, dressing up box and face painting, DJs and baby chill out. 1-4pm, £9 per person/non-walkers FREE (Oct 27)

Sat-Sun: The Campsite at Natural History Museum, Cromwell Rd, SW7 (South Kensington tube)
The museum’s first ever pop-up campsite with tents and colourful camper vans hosting activities from workshops, to films with popcorn, to giant Jenga and Swingball. 11am-4.30pm, FREE (Oct 27-Nov 2)

Sat-Sun: Potato Needs a Bath at Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, SE1
All the veggies are getting ready for a party, except Potato. He only wants to play in the mud. A charming show filled with fruit and veg, puppets and music, suitable for ages 3-5. 11am & 2pm; £12/concs £6 limited availability (Oct 27-Nov 2)

Sat-Sun: Sneaking into Fashion at Covent Garden Market Hall Building, North Hall, Covent Garden Piazza, WC2 (Covent Garden tube)
If your boys are anything like mine, they’ll go wild for this exhibition tracking the rise of trainers from functional to fashionista statement. Check out styles from the outlandish (Kanye West’s $90,000 auctioned Yeezy trainers) to the iconic (Mo Farrah’s Nike Gold winning trainers). 9am-7pm, FREE (Oct 18-28)

Sun: Diwali on the Square, Trafalgar Square, WC2 (Charing Cross tube)
Head to the centre of town to celebrate the Festival of Lights with floating lanterns, colourful light displays, food stalls, music and joyous atmosphere. 2-7pm, FREE (Oct 28)

Sun: Gingerbread Man at Swiss Cottage, 2nd Floor, Winchester Project, 21 Winchester Road NW3 (Finchley Rd/Swiss Cottage tube)
Run, run as fast as you can to catch the Gingerbread Man, performed by Aesop’s Theatre, followed by an arts and crafts workshop gingerbread baking! Best for ages 2-7. 3.30-4.45pm, adult £5/child £9 (Oct 28)
