Why I’m going to the #ActionAidBlogParty

August 14, 2012 //  by Uju//  Leave a Comment

You know the babes love to party. So when my friend Penny of Alexander Residence blog invited me to register for the ActionAid Summer Blog Party, she didn’t exactly have to twist my arm.

But it’s not time to dust off my dancing shoes. This is a party with a cause, celebrating the amazing work done by UK charity, ActionAid.

ActionAid works with some of the poorest countries in the world, leading vital campaigns on 6 major areas of concern: hunger, injustice, gender inequality, HIV and AIDS, education and emergencies/conflicts.

The charity has a holistic approach to tackling these problems and doesn’t just impose their own ideas and solutions but works with local organisations in Africa, Asia and Latin America to help strengthen and develop from the grassroots.

Originally a child sponsorship charity, ActionAid’s strategy comprises everything from fundraising to lobbying governments for change. As a mother and an African, the work they do speaks to the heart of causes and values that I care about deeply.

I can’t wait to find out more about how we can get involved and to join in a blogger brainstorming session at the ActionAid Summer Blog Party this Wednesday.

And look out for our report from the ActionAid Summer Blog Party!
