Weekend Scoop for London Families (Aug 10-12, 2012)

What an amazing Games it’s been! Where will you be spending the final Olympic weekend and watching the Closing Ceremony? Don’t forget to visit our London 2012 Olympic Guide for Families for big screens around town and more ongoing events.

Fri: Bouncy Stonehenge in Alexandra Palace, Alexandra Palace Way, N22 (Wood Green tube)
Stonehenge comes to Ally Pally as the inflatable replica of the iconic site arrives for a day of springy action in Newland Field. Suitable for all ages, young babes must be accompanied by an adult. Bouncers encouraged to dress up! From 10.30am, FREE (Aug 10)

Sat: Make Do and Mend Quilt at Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Rd, SE1 (Lambeth North tube)
Get crafty at the museum at this drop-in communal activity for all ages, making a quilt in the Wartime Gallery. 11am-1pm & 2-4pm, FREE (Aug 12)

Sat: Vintage Children’s Classics Family Fete at Foyle’s Southbank Centre, Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Rd, SE1 (Waterloo tube)
Head to the South Bank for an afternoon of literary delights watching favourite characters and tales come to life. From 12-2pm, children’s illustrator Adam Stower will host a workshop teaching the tricks of his trade. Also on offer balloon modelling, face painting, Mad Hatter tea party crafts, pirate stilt walking and more. 11am-5pm, FREE (Aug 11)

Sat-Sun: SensoryO: Opera for Toddlers (Tête à Tête Festival) (pic) at Hammersmith Studios, Crisp Rd, W6 (Hammersmith tube)
A magical, interactive performance aimed at toddlers ages 18 to 36 months and their carers from Scottish Opera. Enter worlds upon worlds of rich sound, rhythm and music in this 30 minute show, following on from the hit production BabyO. 10-10.40am, 12-12.40pm & 2-2.40pm; £6/£4 concs. Free entry for those dressed as frogs and princesses! (Aug 11-12)

Sat: House of Switzerland Puppetry Spectacular at Glaziers Hall, Bankside, SE1 (London Bridge tube)
Festival favourites House of Fairytales put together an enchanting interpretation of Swiss folklore and legends in Cathedral Square. 3pm, FREE (Aug 12)

Sat-Sun: The Wind in the Willows at Brockwell Park, Herne Hill, SE24 (Brixton Tube)
A special dramatisation of the best-loved tale will invite audience members to move around with the cast, in the scenic setting of the Walled Garden. 11.30am, 2.30pm, 3pm & 6pm (varying dates and times); adult £8/£6 (Aug 11-27)

Sun: Sunday Matinee: Labyrinth (U) & The Princess Bride (PG) at Phoenix Cinema, 52 High Rd, East Finchley, N2 (East Finchley tube)
While away your Sunday at this nostalgic double feature, featuring classic fantasy Labyrinth (2pm) with David Bowie and cult fairytale comedy The Princess Bride (4.15pm) with Cary Elwes. Fairies, witches, sword fighting, giants, true love and ’80s hair. What more could you ask for? 2pm & 4.15pm, adult £9.50/child £7 (Aug 12)
